The odds of Collin Sexton slipping to No. 12 are admittedly slim, as the phone lines will be ringing for teams that may be interested in trading back. In this scenario, however, the Los Angeles Clippers have an opportunity to find a legitimate franchise point guard.
Patrick Beverley and Milos Teodosic are high-quality point guard themselves, but Sexton has the elusive star potential that every general manager should at least consider tapping into.
Sexton is a gamer in every sense of the word. From the way he put Alabama on his back during the 2018 SEC Tournament to how hard he played in a literal 4-on-5 setting, he’s firmly established that he isn’t afraid of the moment.
Throw in the fact that he’s built with a strong frame, a long wingspan, and explosive athleticism, and Sexton has the tools to be a force in the NBA.
Some have compared Sexton to Eric Bledsoe due to his downhill style of play and athleticism. It’s certainly fair, as Sexton is a well-rounded player with defensive potential and the ability to create for others when his shot isn’t falling.
Los Angeles isn’t afraid to utilize multiple point guards at a time, and a Sexton plus whomever backcourt could work for it.
