I’ll admit that Angel Delgado isn’t viewed by many as a legitimate 2018 NBA Draft prospect. The New York Knicks utilize their G League affiliate to develop players, however, and Delgado is deserving of an opportunity to prove himself in Westchester.

Against the Kansas Jayhawks, Delgado proved that his gaudy production throughout his Seton Hall Pirates career wasn’t reserved for lesser opponents.

Delgado was legitimately dominant, recording 24 points, 23 rebounds, five assists, and a block in 38 minutes of action. He shot 10-of-17 from the field and 4-of-4 from the field in what wasn’t just an overwhelming display, but an efficient performance.

Delgado did everything imaginable to keep Seton Hall in the game, and while Khadeen Carrington turned it on late, it was the Dominican Republic star who was the team MVP.

At the next level, Delgado’s rebounding ability, post play, and passing instincts create intriguing potential. He’s undersized for a center, but in this small-ball era, he could bust rotations with his physicality and underrated skill level.

A nightly double-double and a skilled passer, Delgado ranks in the top 20 in the country in offensive and defensive rebound percentage.

He’s a below-the-rim center, but that doesn’t mean he can’t excel.
