New York Knicks: 2018 NBA Draft targets who stepped up on Mar. 8
If you’re following along with Daily Knicks’ NBA Draft coverage, then you know how high I am on Mikal Bridges. The Villanova Wildcats star is one of the best two-way prospects in this class, with loose comparisons being made to San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard.
In the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament, Bridges proved exactly why he should be one of the top prospects on the board for the New York Knicks.
Bridges was remarkable against the Marquette Golden Eagles, leading his team to an explosive victory. He went off for 25 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two offensive boards, two blocks, and a steal in 33 minutes of court time.
Bridges shot 7-of-12 from the field, 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, and 7-of-8 from the free throw line in one of his best performances to date.
Bridges is the best perimeter defender in this draft class and an elite three-point shooter who isn’t afraid to let his shot fly. What the game against Marquette proved is that Bridges is progressing as a penetrating scorer and a capable distributor.
If the Knicks are going to find a wing who can round the starting lineup in the form, then Bridges could be the perfect fit come the 2018 NBA Draft.
