The New York Knicks need a penetrating point guard who can consistently get to the rim and finish among the trees. Emmanuel Mudiay may be that player, but if the New York Knicks believe a different target is needed, then Collin Sexton could be the answer.

After completing a strong freshman season under the guidance of former NBA head coach Avery Johnson, Sexton torched the Texas A&M Aggies in the second round of the SEC Tournament.

Sexton was a sensational force, recording 27 points, five assists, three rebounds, and one steal in 33 minutes of action. He shot 9-of-16 from the field, 3-of-6 from beyond the three-point line, and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe in a downright brilliant performance.

Sexton dominated the most important game of Alabama’s season thus far, and capped it off by hitting the game-winning shot at the final buzzer.

Sexton may not have taken over on defense, but he engaged in a duel to the remember and emerged victorious. He showed the penetrating ability that the Knicks desperately need at point guard, as well as the ability to convert from the perimeter.

If New York finds itself in a position to select Sexton at the 2018 NBA Draft, it should give serious consideration to doing exactly that.
