New York Knicks: Top 5 PGs in the 2018 NBA Draft before NCAA Tournament
It’s unlikely that Shake Milton will be an option in the top 10 or available in the second round. If the New York Knicks are fortunate enough to have a chance to draft Milton in Round 2 or decide to trade for a second first-round draft pick, however, the SMU Mustangs star would be a superb fit.
This isn’t necessarily stating that he would play as well as said player, but Milton has Goran Dragic written all over him with Jeff Hornacek as the head coach.
Milton is a big point guard who can work without the ball or create for his teammates within the flow of the offense. His three-point shooting is nothing short of elite, and he has the volume and efficiency to support the claim—and it all comes within a massive sample size.
Milton has shot at least 40 percent from beyond the arc in each of his three collegiate seasons, converting 190 three-point field goals in 87 games.
For a Knicks team that ranks dead last in three-point field goals made per game, Milton has immediate value. At his size, he should be able to operate and shoot against even the best of backcourt defenders once he makes the transition to the NBA.
If New York can make Milton the sixth man, a trio of he, Emmanuel Mudiay, and Frank Ntilikina could physically overwhelm the NBA with their size and unique continuity.
