The New York Knicks are in the market for an athletic wing. What if the answer in the 2018 NBA Draft isn’t a small forward, but a shooting guard?

The New York Knicks made waves by trading for former Denver Nuggets point guard Emmanuel Mudiay. In the games that followed the maneuver, the Knicks employed a lineup that featured Mudiay at point guard, Frank Ntilikina at the 2, and Tim Hardaway Jr. at small forward.

As the NBA prepares to return from the 2018 All-Star Break, however, a question beckons: What if the shooting guard of the future isn’t already on the roster?

There’s a growing belief that Mudiay and Ntilikina could share a backcourt, while Hardaway could be the full-time small forward. For as promising as the potential is, there’s a reality that every team must accept: When you aren’t winning, nothing is set in stone.

Thus, while it’s easy to believe that Mudiay, Ntilikina, and Hardaway could produce intriguing results, there’s zero reason to rule out drafting a shooting guard in 2018.

The 2018 NBA Draft will play home to a great deal of perimeter talent. With the Knicks on pace to possess top-10 lottery odds, fans have inevitably begun to speculate which prospect could be the answer to the current woes.

The question is: Who are the top five shooting guards in the 2018 NBA Draft and how might they fit with the New York Knicks?
