4. An Athletic Infusion

The New York Knicks have readily acknowledged one of the primary voids on the current roster. There are skilled contributors at multiple positions, but athleticism isn’t exactly a strong-suit—an unacceptable reality in the modern NBA.

One move may not fix that flaw, but acquiring an athletic wing like Troy Williams could offer New York a missing piece of sorts.

Williams has something to prove in the skill department, but athleticism is an undeniable strength. He has a quick first step that he utilizes to attack closeouts, as well as the hang time to make crafty finishes around the rim.

When it comes to rising up and throwing down a powerful flush, Williams’ 2017 NBA D-League Slam Dunk Contest performance speaks for itself.

With the speed to help push the pace and the explosiveness to play above the rim, Williams will be a welcome addition. If inserted into lineups with the other up-and-coming players on the Knicks, he could help Jeff Hornacek establish a faster pace.

Whether or not Williams is the answer at small forward, an athletic infusion is exactly what New York needs for the final two months of the season.
