The New York Knicks may be out of the postseason discussion without Kristaps Porzingis, but there are still a number of burning questions to answer.

In many eyes, the 2017-18 NBA regular season came to a screeching halt for the New York Knicks on Tuesday, Feb. 6. When Kristaps Porzingis suffered a torn ACL in his left knee, the Knicks’ postseason aspirations went up in flames.

While it’s understandable for some to view the Knicks as a now irrelevant team in 2017-18, there’s still a season to be played and burning questions to be answered.

Before the injury, Porzingis pieced together one of the best individual seasons in recent franchise history. He averaged 22.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.3 offensive boards, 1.2 assists, 2.4 blocks, 0.8 steals, and 1.9 three-point field goals made in 32.4 minutes per game.

Porzingis did so on a slash line of .439/.395/.793, and led the league in both blocks per game and total blocks before his season-ending diagnosis.

While losing Porzingis may have put an end to the push for the postseason, there are still issues to identify and solve. Porzingis is the franchise player, but on the roster with him are potential cornerstones who must establish themselves as such.

Thus, while making the playoffs may be out of the question for the New York Knicks, there are burning questions that must be answered.
