New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis recently suffered a torn ACL. Which 2018 NBA Draft prospects would be worth targeting in the wake of his injury?
The New York Knicks have entered NBA Draft season sooner than anyone hoped they would. With less than 48 hours remaining until the 2018 trade deadline, the Knicks lost franchise player Kristaps Porzingis to a torn left ACL.
With Porzingis ruled out for the remainder of the 2017-18 NBA regular season, New York has inevitably turned its attention to a long-term rebuild.
Porzingis finished the 2017-18 regular season in All-Star form. He averaged 22.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 2.4 blocks, 0.8 steals, and 1.9 three-point field goals made in 48 appearances, shooting 38.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Porzingis was selected to his first career All-Star Game appearance, and still leads the NBA in both blocks per game and total blocks.
With Porzingis now out for the season, however, the Knicks must look to the future. He’s still the face of the franchise, but he’ll need immediate help in the form of a star-caliber player who can execute at a high level on both ends of the floor.
The question is: Which 2018 NBA Draft prospects should the New York Knicks be targeting in the wake of Kristaps Porzingis’ season-ending knee injury?
