New York Knicks: Players who need more playing time

If you’re unfamiliar with the G League affiliate in Westchester, you’re likely wondering who this is. If you’ve spent time watching the Westchester Knicks, however, then you’re likely aware of how promising a player Isaiah Hicks truly is.
Signed to a two-way contract that will permit him 45 days with the main roster, Hicks is a player whom the New York Knicks call up—all but immediately.
With Porzingis out, the Knicks now have a glaring void at power forward. The only other 4s on the roster are veterans Michael Beasley and Lance Thomas, and playing either individual significant minutes would do nothing for the rebuilding process.
Giving Hicks an opportunity to prove his long-term value to the team, however, would be a wise decision given the current circumstances..
Hicks is a 6’8″ forward with a chiseled 233-pound frame and a 7’0″ wingspan that he uses to crash the boards and block shots down low. His motor runs high, his post game is solid, and his production as a shot-blocker is at least intriguing.
Porzingis could be out until February of 2019, and even when he returns, it may be smarter to play him at the 5. Either way, he’ll need an interior complement who can provide two-way versatility.
Hicks has that potential.
