The New York Knicks have acquired point guard Emmanuel Mudiay from the Denver Nuggets. Here are five reasons to love the trade.

The New York Knicks entered Thursday, Feb. 8 facing pressure to build for the future. Following the season-ending injury suffered by franchise player Kristaps Porzingis, the magnifying lens was beginning to focus on the players developing alongside him.

With less than an hour remaining until the 2018 NBA trade deadline, the Knicks made a move that could redefine the identity of the team.

Prior to Thursday, New York’s most significant deal of the season was shipping Willy Hernangomez to the Charlotte Hornets for two second-round draft picks. The move left many feeling rather underwhelmed, but the organization quickly answered the call.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Knicks have acquired point guard Emmanuel Mudiay from the Denver Nuggets.

It may not be the move that fans expected, but it’s one that gives New York a new level of flexibility and versatility.

Mudiay is in the midst of his third NBA season. Despite being selected just three spots below Kristaps Porzingis at the 2015 NBA Draft, the 21-year-old has struggled to secure playing time with the Nuggets—a truth that left some questioning why the Knicks would complete this trade.

Thankfully, the New York Knicks made the right decision by executing a trade for point guard Emmanuel Mudiay. Here are five reasons to love the deal.
