New York Knicks: Who stepped up against the Brooklyn Nets on Jan. 30?
Enes Kanter
With the New York Knicks in pursuit of a second consecutive win, Enes Kanter stepped up with arguably his best performance of the 2017-18 season. Some may argue in favor of his showing on Christmas Day, but this was an example of Kanter thriving in every phase of the game.
Dominance is a word that we shouldn’t throw around too lightly, but that’s the perfect adjective for what Kanter did against the Brooklyn Nets.
Kanter went off for 20 points, 20 rebounds, five offensive rebounds, five assists, and two blocks in 30 minutes. He did so with elite efficiency, shooting 8-of-10 from the field and 4-of-4 from the free throw line, including two late free throws that put the game away.
Whether it was a clutch shot, a timely offensive rebound, a beautiful pass, or a strong defensive stop, Kanter did it all for the Knicks against Brooklyn.
Kanter has been fighting for minutes in the fourth quarter, and his performance against Brooklyn could earn him more. Kristaps Porzingis has spoken about being more comfortable at the 4, and games like this imply that Kanter could be the ideal complement at the 5.
Only time if Kanter will be able to defend stretch bigs at a higher level, but against a Brooklyn team with traditional centers, he was unstoppable.
