New York Knicks: Pros and cons of making a push for the postseason
As the 2018 NBA trade deadline nears, a question beckons: Should the New York Knicks make a push for the postseason? We look at the potential pros and cons.
The New York Knicks have divided a passionate fan base during the 2017-18 NBA regular season. With the 2018 NBA trade deadline nearing, a debate is raging about whether the Knicks should be buyers or sellers come Feb. 8.
There are valid points to make on both sides of that debate, but a consensus has yet to be reached—and quite frankly, it may never occur.
In order to work through what’s becoming a polarizing difference of philosophy, we must acknowledge that valid points are being made on both end of the spectrum. Those who would prefer to see the Knicks tank could be steering the franchise in the right direction.
Those who would prefer to see the organization make an immediate push for the postseason, however, raise fair points about the benefits of such a pursuit.
While only the front office can determine what will actually transpire, it’s worth pondering which approach would be more beneficial. If we can keep an open mind, we may be able to acknowledge the other side and come to some sort of a compromise, if not reaffirm our previous conclusions.
The question is: What would the pros and cons be if the New York Knicks were to make an immediate push for the postseason in 2017-18?
