If Michael Kidd-Gilchrist isn’t your cup of tea, then the Charlotte Hornets have another athletic wing to consider: Jeremy Lamb. It’s unlikely that Lamb will be traded if Kemba Walker isn’t, but if the Hornets hit the reset button, this could become central casting.

Lamb has endured his fair share of inconsistencies, but at age 25, he’s beginning to come into his own on both ends of the floor.

Lamb has been an enigmatic player throughout his six-year NBA career, due in large part to the confusion over why it hadn’t worked out for him. He has a prototypical build with a 38″ vertical and the potential to be a high-level two-way player.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, the Hornets could be willing to move their breakout wing if Walker is indeed traded.

"If Walker is dealt, it wouldn’t surprise anyone around the league if the Hornets started trading off other players under long-term contracts. That could leave a young player such as guard Jeremy Lamb available for a reasonable return."

That could be viewed as speculation, but if the Knicks want an athletic wing, then Lamb deserves consideration.

At his best, Lamb is an efficient three-point shooter who can attack a closeout and finish at or above the rim. He’s still inconsistent on defense, but the physical tools are in place for the former UConn star to come into his own on that end of the floor.

If the Knicks believe that Lamb’s career-year is a sign of things to come, then pairing him with Tim Hardaway Jr. could be the move that pushes them into the next tier.
