Enes Kanter

The New York Knicks surprised the masses by trading Carmelo Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The return was far from expected, as New York acquired center Enes Kanter, small forward Doug McDermott, and a second-round draft pick.

Roughly four months later, Kanter has emerged as one of the players whom rival executives believe could be realistically acquired.

Kanter, 25, has established himself as one of the most overwhelming post players and rebounders in the NBA today. He blends power and skill when he operates with his back to the basket, and adds the element of being an elite offensive rebounder.

Per a recent report by Ian Begley of ESPN New York, Kanter is garnering trade interest from around the Association.

"Starting center Enes Kanter and backup center Kyle O’Quinn also have received interest from opposing executives, sources said…"

Once again, it’s far from surprising to learn that Kanter is on the market, especially when one considers the nature of his contract.

Kanter has a player option for the 2018-19 season, but the working theory is that he’ll turn it down to become an unrestricted free agent. He’ll likely command a significant salary, due in large part to the fact that he’s a walking double-double and a highly efficient scorer.

Kanter is currently averaging 13.6 points and 10.0 rebounds per game on 59.5 percent shooting from the field—obvious reason for executives to be intrigued.
