New York Knicks: Five reasons Kristaps Porzingis deserves to be an All-Star
New York Knicks power forward Kristaps Porzingis was recently named to the 2018 All-Star Game. Here are five reasons he deserved the honor.
The New York Knicks have spent the past 17 years attempting to achieve stability. Since winning 48 games in 2000-01, the Knicks have made a grand total of four postseason appearances, finishing with an above .500 record just three times.
On Tuesday, Jan. 23, however, the franchise received confirmation that it’s heading in the right direction as far as building towards the future is concerned.
New York’s rebuild began on June 25, 2015, when then team president Phil Jackson selected Kristaps Porzingis at No. 4 overall in the 2015 NBA Draft. It was a polarizing decision at the time, but over the near three years that have followed, Porzingis has gradually silenced his critics.
On Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, New York received a clear sign that the decision to select Porzingis is paying off when he was honored with his first career All-Star Game appearance.
That’s an incredible honor for a 22-year-old phenom who’s developing into one of the best two-way players in the game today.
Some have debated whether or not Porzingis deserves the All-Star nod, due in large part to his December slump. For as fair as that complaint may be, there should be no question at all about how deserving Porzingis is of this selection.
In case the critics attempt to convince you otherwise, here are five reasons why New York Knicks power forward Kristaps Porzingis is undeniably deserving of his All-Star selection.
