The New York Knicks are reportedly in the market for a perimeter player. The question is: Who should the Knicks view as realistic trade targets?

The New York Knicks have been one of the more solid teams in the NBA during the 2017-18 NBA regular season, but flaws are beginning to be magnified. The pressure is mounting during late-game situations, and a need for playmakers along the perimeter exists.

It’s possible that New York will build internally towards that goal, but a recent report implies that the organization may not be satisfied with its current personnel.

New York has improved upon its 2016-17 campaign by emphasizing defense and running a more modern offensive system in 2017-18. There are still voids to be filled on the roster, however, and the front office is eager to get the job done.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Knicks are one of many teams that are interested in upgrading at the shooting guard or small forward positions.

"There are far more teams chasing wing players — shooting guards/small forwards — than quality talent available at those positions. Drafts have been lean on those spots in recent years, and they’re in great demand now. Detroit, New Orleans, New York and Portland are a few of the teams most interested in upgrades, but the true list is much longer."

That doesn’t guarantee that the Knicks are going to execute a trade for a perimeter upgrade, but there are reasons to believe a deal could be executed.

The unfortunate truth that the Knicks may face is that the supply may not measure up to the demand. The desire to improve creates the question of what’s possible, however, and New York certainly has options to evaluate.

The question is: Which potentially available perimeter players should the New York Knicks consider targeting on the open market?
