Knicks Trade Rumors: Well-known players who are reportedly available
How It Impacts The Knicks
It’s been firmly established that Kristaps Porzingis can get the job done at power forward, but interest remains in exploring his potential at center. That’s based on the fact that he puts incredible pressure on an opposing defense when he stretches big men out to the three-point line.
The New York Knicks haven’t yet determined who will play alongside Porzingis in the long-term, however, which makes Larry Nance Jr. a compelling option.
Nance isn’t much of a shot-blocker, but his defensive traits may better fit what the Knicks need. He’s an explosive athlete who can play both the 4 and the 5, and has made it known that his personal goal is to be named All-Defense.
If Nance realizes his potential, his ability to defend stretch bigs would enable Porzingis to remain closer to the rim—the ultimate win for New York.
Offensively, Nance is an efficient finisher who utilizes his athleticism to play above the rim with virtual ease. He’s a strong threat in the pick and roll, which makes him an ideal complement to point guard Frank Ntilikina.
So long as the cost of doing business wouldn’t break the bank, the Knicks would be wise to at least explore the possibility of adding Nance to the roster.
