As previously noted, the Los Angeles Lakers have a desire to unload salary in preparation for the 2018 period of free agency. In doing so, it stands to reason that the Lakers will look to unload the $12.5 million that will be owed to Jordan Clarkson in 2018-19.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Clarkson isn’t the only player whom the Lakers are looking to trade. Third-year power forward Larry Nance Jr. has also made the list.

"The Lakers have made it clear that Clarkson, Julius Randle and Larry Nance are available."

That’s a surprising development considering Nance is on his rookie deal, but the report comes from the most respected name in sports reporting.

Nance, 25, is an explosive athlete and a defensive specialist whom the New York Knicks would likely be happy to acquire. His offensive game is limited at this stage of his development, but he’s a quality defender with untapped potential.

Nance currently ranks No. 15 amongst power forwards in Defensive Real Plus-Minus, which reflects his impact on that end of the floor.

Nance is known more for coming up with steals than blocking shots, but he’s capable of improving in that regard. He’s 6’9″ with a 7’0″ wingspan and highlight-reel leaping ability, which should translate to protecting the rim.

If the Knicks determine that an athletic big man would help alleviate pressure from Kristaps Porzingis, then Nance could be an option worth looking into.
