The Orlando Magic hired a borderline elite head coach in Frank Vogel, but the personnel he’s been given hasn’t exactly fit his identity. The talent in Orlando is undeniable, but it’s failed to come together with any of the head coaches that have attempted to build a postseason-caliber team.

According to Marc Stein of The New York Timesrival executives expect the Magic to shop Evan Fournier, amongst others, as the trade deadline nears.

"Rival executives expect Jeff Weltman, Orlando’s new team president, to aggressively hunt for new homes for the likes of Evan Fournier, Elfrid Payton and Mario Hezonja, given that Nikola Vucevic’s broken finger is likely to preclude dealing the center."

Fournier is a comparable player to Jordan Clarkson in his offensive-minded nature, but his positional versatility offers a new reason for intrigue.

Fournier is one of the better offensive wings in the NBA, primarily due to his developed abilities as a well-rounded scorer. He’s an efficient and high-volume three-point shooter, as well as a capable dribble penetrator with elite size for a shooting guard.

It’s debatable how effective he can be at small forward on a team with postseason aspirations, but his skill level is compelling.

Fournier’s ability to shoot the three-ball makes him a useful player for any team and system. It’s his development as a slashing scorer that implies he can be a No. 2 or No. 3 scorer on a quality team, however, as well as a competent facilitator.

The New York Knicks may want more of a defensive-minded wing in a potential trade, but Fournier’s scoring ability makes him an intriguing option.
