With the NBA trade deadline nearing, a number of significant names have hit the open market. Who might the New York Knicks be interested in?

The New York Knicks have spent the 2017-18 NBA regular season blending a long-term vision with a short-term sense of urgency. The results have been polarizing, as New York has toed the line between lottery status and postseason contention.

With the trade deadline on the horizon and the Knicks approaching a fork in the road, it’s only rational to evaluate the status of the open market.

Having passed Jan. 15, trade restrictions have been lifted and options have been diversified. That creates nearly limitless possibilities for Scott Perry and Steve Mills to explore in the event that a trade is what they wish to pursue.

While rumors of who could be available are nothing new, a fresh batch of intriguing names could capture New York’s attention.

There are some intriguing options who simply aren’t realistic targets for the Knicks to consider acquiring. That includes Elfrid Payton, who’d become redundant alongside Frank Ntilikina, and DeAndre Jordan, who’s a dynamic talent operating along a different timeline than New York is building.

The question is: Who are the reportedly available players who offer the New York Knicks reason for intrigue and potential interest?
