Courtney Lee A Trade Target

The New York Knicks have a number of talented veterans whom contenders could poach off of the roster. While all eyes are on the center position, it’s shooting guard Courtney Lee who may be of the most appeal to teams around the Association.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, Lee has garnered interest from around the NBA as a potential fit on a contending team.

"On that front, opposing teams continue to show interest in Lee, per league sources."

The Knicks haven’t shown any desire to move Lee thus far, but it’s within reason that an enticing offer could come along.

Lee is currently averaging career-highs in points (13.5), rebounds (3.5), assists (2.8), steals (1.4), and three-point field goals made per game (1.6). He’s also shooting a career-best 42.2 from beyond the arc, which will inevitably attract rival executives.

In the midst of a career-year, it stands to reason that Lee could command a late first-round draft pick if a team believes he can be its missing piece.

Losing Lee would be tough, but adding young and developable talent would fit the long-term vision if the season falls to shambles.

Head coach Jeff Hornacek has played an instrumental role in Lee developing a newfound willingness to shoot in traffic. There’s no guaranteeing that it will translate elsewhere, but Lee is respected as one of the most consistent players in the NBA.

That could help New York make the playoffs and build its culture, but if the Knicks believe it can get significant value in return, a trade will be made possible.
