4. The New Acquisitions

The front office isn’t institutionalizing losing, but the New York Knicks are committed to a long-term rebuild. They’re taking it step by step, prioritizing a new culture over the hunger for short-term results, and understanding the value of long-term planning.

One of the best things to come of the Knicks’ commitment to a youth movement has been the arrival and emergence of new fan favorites.

Mere games into his tenure with the Knicks, Enes Kanter has become the heart and soul of the team and franchise. He publicly defended his rookie against the face of the NBA, has directly confronted opposing enforcers, and consistently plays through pain.

That’s endeared Kanter to Knicks fans, who have been missing the type of mental and physical toughness that he provides on a nightly basis.

Joining Kanter are the likes of Michael Beasley, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Doug McDermott. Beasley has become a situational scorer, McDermott has established legitimate two-way value, and Hardaway is justifying his lucrative four-year contract by flirting with stardom.

Throw in floor general Jarrett Jack, and the Knicks’ offseason acquisitions have become fan favorites and invaluable contributors to a team that’s changing the culture.
