2. Kristaps Porzingis Bounced Back Strong

Thursday, Dec. 21 was a day that New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis would like to move on from. The Knicks stunned the Boston Celtics, but Porzingis shot a career-worst 0-of-11 from the field and scored one total point in 23 minutes.

Against the Detroit Pistons, Porzingis bounced back with an outstanding showing that should have been enough to get the Knicks the win.

Fresh off of his 0-of-11 shooting performance, Porzingis picked up 29 points, nine rebounds, two assists, one block, and a steal in 38 minutes. He shot 12-of-28 from the field, 3-of-9 from beyond the arc, and 2-of-2 from the free throw line.

42.9 percent shooting from the field and 33.3 percent shooting from distance isn’t exactly ideal, but the field goal attempts are even more important than the conversions.

Porzingis could have come out and played with a hesitant mentality after going o-fer against the Celtics. Instead, he let his shot fly against the Pistons and took the makes with the misses, thus enabling him to lock in during crunch time.

Porzingis scored 10 points in the final 5:32 of the fourth quarter alone, which should have been enough to help the Knicks put the Pistons away.
