The New York Knicks were mere seconds away from exorcising their road demons on Friday, Dec. 22. Instead of emerging victorious, however, the Knicks fell short in their pursuit of victory, dropping a 104-101 nailbiter to the Detroit Pistons.
While it would be easy to simply get frustrated and write this off as another loss, it would be far more productive to evaluate what transpired.
New York and Detroit played this game down to the wire, with the Pistons ultimately prevailing on the strength of superior clutch heroics. Both teams competed on defense, but Reggie Jackson took over down the stretch to get his team its 18th victory.
Tobias Harris led the Pistons in scoring with 24 points, and Andre Drummond provided powerful support with 18 points and 15 rebounds in just 26 minutes.
With its loss on Friday, the Knicks fell to 17-15 overall and 2-10 on the road. It was yet another underwhelming result on the road, albeit with a different story behind it and a number of reasons to be optimistic about the long-term potential of the team.
