New York Knicks: Trade options to monitor as season progresses
With the arrival and passing of Friday, Dec. 15, the trade game has officially begun. Who should the New York Knicks be targeting in the coming months?
Friday, Dec. 15 will prove to be one of the most important days of the 2017-18 NBA season. The New York Knicks are one of 30 teams that saw roughly 90 percent of the players in the Association become available to be traded.
For those unfamiliar, Dec. 15 is the date on which players who signed new contracts in free agency became eligible to be traded.
Few teams were impacted more by this news than the Knicks. Seven players on the current roster were signed or re-signed this past summer, including the returning Ron Baker and rookies Damyean Dotson and Frank Ntilikina.
There’s been no indication that general manager Scott Perry wants to execute a trade, but the fact that he now has options to work with is of undeniable intrigue.
In addition to being able to construct more versatile trade offers, Perry can also scour the market for short-term and long-term fits. Of equal importance is that 2017 free agents who aren’t working out as well as other teams may have hoped they would can now be packaged in an otherwise favorable deal for the Knicks.
The question is: Who should the New York Knicks be considering now that the gates have opened and the trade possibilities have expanded?
