The New York Knicks are back above .500 at 14-13, but the task ahead is exorcising road demons. What must New York do to defeat the Brooklyn Nets?

A rivalry will resume on Thursday, Dec. 14 when the Battle of the Boroughs opens its second chapter of the 2017-18 NBA regular season. The New York Knicks will travel to play the Brooklyn Nets with supremacy and bragging rights on the minds of all involved.

While New York may have the momentum following a 107-86 win over Brooklyn on Oct. 27, victory will be far from guaranteed in hostile territory.

The Knicks have reclaimed control of Madison Square Garden during the 2017-18 regular season. Since going 31-10 at home during the 54-win 2012-13 campaign, the Knicks have failed to secure an above .500 record at home in any of the four seasons that have followed.

New York has answered the call for improvement by accumulating a 13-5 home record in 2017-18—a record that hasn’t done it much good on the road.

Despite the fact that New York is tied for the most home wins in the NBA, it sits just one game above .500 overall. That’s due to the fact that the Knicks are currently 1-8 at home, which make it the only team in the Association that hasn’t won multiple road games.

The question is: What must the New York Knicks do to exorcise the road demons and improve to 15-13 with a win over the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center on Dec. 14?
