Rumor: DeAndre Jordan Is Available

The Los Angeles Clippers have been a team of two halves during the early weeks of the 2017-18 NBA regular season. Since opening the season at 4-0, the Clippers have gone 3-11, which admittedly includes a recent two-game winning streak.

With the Clippers seemingly in free fall, All-NBA center DeAndre Jordan has found himself on the open market. Per Tim Bontemps of The Washington Post:

"DeAndre Jordan, who can become a free agent after the season, has been coming up in trade conversations, with multiple teams talking potential trades."

This comes on the heels of the organization saying Jordan would be a, “Clipper for life,” but it’s an intriguing report from a respected journalist.

Jordan is one of the most decorated centers of his era, but he’s also a pending free agent who’s far from guaranteed to re-sign. Jordan will turn 30 years of age during the month he’s eligible to becomes an unrestricted free agent, and will likely be looking for an opportunity to win a title.

If he doesn’t believe that the Clippers can provide him with such an opportunity, then it’s fair to believe that Jordan will look elsewhere.

If that theory is bought and believed, then it stands to reason that the Clippers will look to get value for him before he walks. That could also be supported by the fact that Jordan is a player whose success is based on his athleticism, and he’s pushing 30.

Regardless of what the rationale may be, the three-time All-NBA honoree has found himself on the open market—and the New York Knicks may benefit from listening.
