Happy Thanksgiving! Here are five reasons you should be thankful for the New York Knicks on this day of reflection and compassion.

The New York Knicks are one of the most polarizing organizations in the vast world of professional sports. The fans are as rabid and committed as any, but the organization hasn’t rewarded the supporters with a championship since 1973.

As millions of Americans celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 23, the question beckons: Why should fans be thankful for the Knicks?

Early in the 2017-18 NBA regular season, the Knicks have presented fans with new reasons for optimism. The Knicks are 10-7 through the first 17 games, Kristaps Porzingis is playing at an MVP-caliber level, and head coach Jeff Hornacek is creating a productive system.

The reasons to be thankful range beyond this single season, however, as the Knicks have provided fans with good reason for a positive outlook.

In some instances, the Knicks have given fans reasons for encouragement and excitement. In others, they’ve provided the diehards with the type of experiences that will stick with them for the rest of their lives.

The question is: Why should fans be thankful for the New York Knicks, no matter how polarizing the organization may be?
