Damyean Dotson

On Friday night, Damyean Dotson was playing for the Westchester Knicks against the Grand Rapids Drive. On Saturday night, he was the beneficiary of a blowout victory that called upon the less heralded players to close out the fourth quarter.

Dotson took full advantage of the opportunity to further establish himself as a long-term asset with a solid showing against the Sacramento Kings.

Dotson played garbage time minutes, but he was on the court against the likes of De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, and Justin Jackson. All three players are not only operating along his timeline, but more heralded than he as far as short-term and long-term hype are concerned.

During the 14 minutes that he played against Sacramento, however, Dotson managed to outplay all three players by providing contributions on both ends of the floor.

Dotson scored a career-high 14 points, adding a rebound and an assist for good measure. In addition to playing a physical brand of defense, he was efficient on offense, shooting 6-of-9 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.

This performance doesn’t guarantee Dotson an influx in playing time, but it’s an early sign of how capable he is of providing two-way contributions for the New York Knicks.
