New York Knicks: Who stepped up during 118-91 win over Sacramento Kings?
Michael Beasley
Michael Beasley amassed a +/- of -4 in 21 minutes of action, but that isn’t at all an indication of his impact on the game. His situational scoring ability is becoming a strength off the bench, and that continued to prove true against the Sacramento Kings.
Coupled with his vastly improved commitment to defense, Beasley had a strong showing that shouldn’t be summarized by his +/-.
Beasley played 21 minutes against Sacramento, recording 10 points, four rebounds, one assist, and three blocks. He shot 5-of-8 from the field and made a number of finishes that reminded fans of why he was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2008 NBA Draft.
Beasley’s playing time has been somewhat inconsistent, but in a second consecutive outing with at least 20 minutes played, he stepped up.
For what it’s worth, Beasley is now averaging 13.5 points per 36 minutes on 48.9 percent shooting from the field. He needs his shots in order to make an impact on games, but when the second unit needs a bucket, he can get one.
Only time will tell how much of an asset Beasley can be in a potential push for the postseason, but his ability to finish around the rim is as dazzling as ever before.
