The New York Knicks will host the Phoenix Suns at Madison Square Garden on Friday, November 3. What are the keys to victory against a resurgent Suns team?

It’s only November, but the New York Knicks already have an opportunity to secure a culture-changing victory. On Friday, Nov. 3, the 3-4 Knicks will host the 4-4 Phoenix Suns at Madison Square Garden.

Although a clash between the Knicks and Suns may not be the most highly-anticipated game of the year, it’s a rare opportunity to display a commitment to the head coach.

For those unfamiliar, current Knicks head coach Jeff Hornacek held the same position with the Phoenix Suns between 2013 and 2016. He began his tenure on an exceptionally high note, leading Phoenix to 48 wins in 2013-14 after it won just 25 games in 2012-13.

He had the Suns on pace to make the playoffs in 2014-15, but the front office proceeded to blow up the roster and utilize Hornacek as the scapegoat for the dysfunction.

Fast forward to 2017-18, and the opportunity to win for Hornacek still hasn’t been capitalized on. The Suns defeated Hornacek’s Knicks 113-111 in overtime on Dec. 13, 2016, and again escaped with a 107-105 victory on Jan. 21, 2017.

Roughly nine months later, the New York Knicks can show their commitment to Jeff Hornacek with a long-awaited win over his former team.

The question is: What are the keys to victory against the Phoenix Suns?
