Kristaps Porzingis

For the fifth time in six games, Kristaps Porzingis displayed flashes of superstardom. He shot with limitless range, overwhelmed defenders while working inside, and was fearless in the way he attacked a potentially elite interior.

Fresh off of scoring 32 points during a road win over the Cleveland Cavaliers and 30 points in a home win over the Brooklyn Nets, Porzingis erupted again against the Denver Nuggets.

Porzingis finished with a career-high 38 points on 14-of-26 shooting from the field, 4-of-7 shooting from distance, and 6-of-6 shooting from the free throw line. He pulled down seven rebounds, added two offensive boards, dished out two assists, and blocked three shots.

Matched up against four-time All-Star Paul Millsap, Porzingis was dominant on both ends of the floor during the best performance of his promising career.

This performance was something of a coming out party for Porzingis, who has now scored at least 30 points in five of his first six games to start the 2017-18 season. While setting a career-high in scoring is an obvious reason for optimism, the circumstances make it even more special.

Matched up against an All-Star and defensive specialist in Millsap, and a rising star in Nikola Jokic, Porzingis dominated—and there’s no way around that truth.
