The New York Knicks showed significant signs of progress during the preseason finale. Which players stepped up against the Washington Wizards?

The New York Knicks concluded the 2017 preseason on Friday, October 13. Although New York suffered a fifth consecutive loss, it put together a significantly better showing than what fans had come to expect following the previous four games.

The game result was a 110-103 loss to the Washington Wizards, but the final score was of minimal importance in comparison to the signs of promise and potential.

New York played the preseason finale without Kristaps Porzingis, Frank Ntilikina, and Joakim Noah. With the franchise player and two key rotational contributors missing, the Knicks’ depth was placed on full display against Bradley Beal and the Wizards.

The surprising turn of events was a strong two-way showing that featured a number of critical contributors taking advantage of their opportunity to step up in the spotlight.

New York converted 11 three-point field goals on 40.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc. It left six points on the board at the free throw line, but it also cut down on turnovers, fought until the end, and defended with significantly more energy than it did in the previous four preseason games.
