The New York Knicks have signed free agent point guard Trey Burke. Here are five reasons why Knicks fans should support the decision to sign Burke.

The New York Knicks have committed their resources to a youth movement that aims to create a sustainable form of success. One of the most significant steps of that process was achieved when the Knicks selected point guard Frank Ntilikina at No. 8 overall in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Although Ntilikina is viewed as the future of the position, New York has utilized free agency to complement The French Prince with a number of quality players.

The Knicks re-signed Ron Baker and signed veterans Jarrett Jack and Ramon Sessions to create depth at point guard. The expectation is that only three of those players will secure a main roster spot, but the attempt at creating a healthy competition has proven wise and rewarding.

In an official press release, the organization announced the signing of yet another experienced NBA point guard: former Michigan Wolverines star Trey Burke.

Signing Burke may not be the most eye-opening decision of the offseason, but the Knicks have found a talented young player with untapped potential.

Burke, 24, spent the first three seasons of his NBA career with the Utah Jazz. He played the 2016-17 campaign with the Washington Wizards, where he was unsuccessful in his attempts to secure consistent playing time behind starting point guard John Wall.

Thankfully, the New York Knicks have signed Trey Burke at the perfect time. That’s just one of the reasons why Knicks fans should support the decision to sign the 2013 National College Player of the Year.
