The New York Knicks suffered an embarrassing 117-83 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Who are the few players who showed up during the preseason blowout?
Although the New York Knicks began the 2017 NBA preseason with two consecutive losses, a rare sense of optimism was born. Individual players displayed flashes of brilliance, and the team executed in a respectable enough manner to believe improved execution is on the horizon.
Following a 117-83 loss to the Brooklyn Nets in the third preseason game of 2017, however, the Knicks have been left searching for answers.

The loss to Brooklyn was a performance that left few reasons to be encouraged by New York’s current trajectory. Gut reactions of anger and disdain are undeniably fair when one considers how poorly the Knicks played against their cross-city rival.
True as that may be, context is key and there were players who managed to shine beneath the cloud cast by the result of the Knicks’ third preseason game.
It’s worth noting that Ron Baker, Michael Beasley, Enes Kanter, Mindaugas Kuzminskas, and Frank Ntilikina all missed the clash with Brooklyn. With five of perhaps the first 10 players in Jeff Hornacek’s rotation absent, the performance may not have been indicative of what’s to come.
The question is: Who were the select few players who stepped up for the New York Knicks during the 117-83 blowout loss to the Brooklyn Nets?
