New York Knicks: 5 reasons Enes Kanter can win Most Improved Player
Tim Hardaway Jr. isn’t the only New York Knicks player with a shot at Most Improved Player. Recently acquired big man Enes Kanter is also a candidate.
The New York Knicks have a viable candidate for Most Improved Player in shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. That much was acknowledged and expanded upon in a previous article, but Hardaway isn’t the only Knick worth considering for the award.
While Hardaway may be the current fan favorite, it’s just as plausible that newly acquired big man Enes Kanter could be the Knick who emerges as the award winner.
Kanter was acquired in a trade that sent former franchise player Carmelo Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder. That’s an early feather in his cap, but it doesn’t necessarily guarantee a bright future with New York.
Thankfully, optimism is mounting as a result of the substance hidden by the perceived struggle that Kanter endured in Oklahoma City.
Kanter is coming off of a season during which he went from averaging 21.3 minutes per game in the regular season to 9.0 in the playoffs. It was a disappointing turn of events, but the working theory is that he’ll receive a fresh start and a greater role in New York.
The question is: What are the reasons to believe that New York Knicks big man Enes Kanter can win Most Improved Player in 2017-18?
