New York Knicks shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. is expected to make a leap of sorts in 2017-18. There’s reason to believe he can go as far as winning Most Improved Player.

When the New York Knicks signed Tim Hardaway Jr. to a four-year deal worth $71 million, one expectation conquered all else: Improvement. The 25-year-old is coming off of the best season of his NBA career, but will need to make further improvements in order to justify his contract.

If the goal is for Hardaway to elevate his game during the 2017-18 season, then a fair question beckons: Can he win Most Improved Player?

The competition for the award is as stiff as ever before, as a number of players are expected to make significant improvements in 2017-18. A new era is on the horizon, and the players who represent its arrival are at the doorstep of prominence.

True as that may be, Hardaway is becoming as viable a candidate to win Most Improved Player as any other rising force in the NBA.

Back in New York for a second stint with the Knicks, Hardaway will have a number of factors working in his favor. Winning the award itself will be no easy task, but it’s a realistic goal for a shooting guard who continues to improve.

The question is: What are the reasons to believe New York Knicks shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. will win Most Improved Player?
