Courtney Lee

When Courtney Lee stepped foot on the court, the pace of the game changed for the better. The New York Knicks played harder on defense, dominated the passing lanes, and even shot well during a performance that’s not properly represented by +/-.

Lee looks more muscular and faster than he was a season ago, and that helped him celebrate his birthday with a strong performance against the Brooklyn Nets.

Lee picked up 12 points, two rebounds, one offensive board, and four steals in his 27 minutes of court time. He shot 5-of-10 from the field and 2-of-3 from three-point range in a performance that revealed just how hungry the 32-year-old is to win.

In addition to producing quality numbers, Lee seemed to be the spark plug who brought life back to the Knicks during the fourth quarter.

Coming off of the bench was different for Lee, who started 434 games during his nine completed NBA seasons. It was a move that fit him well, however, as he was able to become the leader of a unit instead of another complementary piece.

The Knicks are going to need Lee to perform at a high level if the desired push for the postseason is going to gain any traction whatsoever.
