9. Lance Thomas, SF

Along with Kyle O’Quinn, a key piece to the second unit will be Lance Thomas. After signing a four-year deal following a solid 2015-16 season, Thomas was quite inconsistent in 2016-17. Combine this inconsistency with injuries, and it didn’t add up a good year for the forward.

Thomas only shot 39.8 percent from the field, with only 6.0 points per game. Thankfully, the biggest positive for him on offense was his three point shooting at an excellent 44.7 percent.

Will he improve his game this upcoming season? If not, then his contract will look like a bust for the Knicks.

Thomas is still only 29 years old and should see solid minutes. He’s always been a hard worker on defense and a good presence in the locker room. He may even be the best defender on the team going into this season.

If he has an amazing camp, he could contend for the starting small forward job. For now, it looks like Thomas will be a key player for the second unit for the 2017-18 Knicks.
