 10. Ron Baker, G

The basketball world seemed confused when the New York Knicks re-signed Ron Baker to a two-year deal worth $8.9 million. The Knicks love him, though. In a recent blog post, general manager Scott Perry mentioned Baker as a part of the young core the front office intends to build around.

We know Knicks head coach Jeff Hornaceck is a Baker fan, as the former All-Star recently mentioned that Baker reminds him of himself.

As an undrafted free agent out of Wichita State, Baker didn’t see significant playing time until the second half of last season. When he was on the court, Baker impressed with his effort on defense and high IQ on offense.

His numbers weren’t impressive, but the team seemed to play well with him out there. Baker is technically competing for the starting point guard job, though it seems more likely he’ll see minutes off the bench.

Positional versatility should work in Baker’s favor as he splits time between point guard and shooting guard.
