2. Stabilize Three-Point Shot

Over the course of his four-year career with the Wichita State Shockers, Ron Baker was an effective three-point shooter. He not only consistently knocked shots down, but did so with efficiency and versatility.

Unfortunately, Baker’s ability to convert from beyond the arc translated poorly to the NBA, where the line is deeper and the shot is valued at an even greater level.

Baker converted 242 three-point field goals on 36.9 percent shooting from beyond the arc at Wichita State. He made 144 three-point field goals between his junior and senior seasons alone, and averaged 2.0 three-point field goals made per game overall.

Unfortunately, Baker converted just 23 three-point field goals on 26.7 percent shooting from distance during his rookie season in the NBA.

Baker has solid form on his jump shot and a proven ability to knock down open shots from distance. He’ll need to prove that he can do so from beyond the NBA’s three-point line, however, as it’s become a vital skill for guards to possess.

If Baker is able to convert the three-ball with even a slight measure of consistency in 2017-18, the quality of his overall contributions will improve.
