Ron Baker was named one of the core five members of the New York Knicks. What are realistic goals for his second season with the organization?

The New York Knicks made a surprising investment in Ron Baker during the 2017 period of free agency. Although most believed that New York would attempt to re-sign the former Wichita State Shockers standout, few expected Baker to receive a two-year deal worth $8.9 million.

As Baker prepares for his second NBA season, the front office has revealed just how valued the 6’4″ combo guard is in New York.

General manager Scott Perry recently wrote a post on The Official MSG Blog. In that informative piece, Perry revealed a number of plans for the future, including the broad view of his vision and the principles of his approach.

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of his writeup, however, was the revelation of which five players he views as New York’s core contributors.

The first four players listed should come as no surprise to Knicks fans: Tim Hardaway Jr., Willy Hernangomez, Frank Ntilikina, and Kristaps Porzingis. The fifth player on the list, however, was eye-opening, to say the least: Baker.

Fresh off of being crowned as one of the five core players of the New York Knicks, the question beckons: What should fans expect from Ron Baker in 2017-18?

Moreover, what goals should Baker set for himself?
