The New York Knicks selected Damyean Dotson in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft. Who should Dotson be studying in preparation for his rookie season?

The New York Knicks completed what was a far more beneficial NBA Draft than some have given the front office credit for. There were risks taken, but French phenom Frank Ntilikina fills the longstanding need for a defensive-minded point guard.

Selected after Ntilikina was a player whose selection isn’t receiving nearly enough attention: former Houston Cougars shooting guard Damyean Dotson.

New York selected Dotson at No. 44 overall in the 2017 NBA Draft. The 23-year-old is coming off of a sensational senior season, during which he averaged 17.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 3.4 three-point field goals made per game.

A 6’5″ sharpshooter with an NBA build, a 6’9″ wingspan, and impressive athleticism, Dotson has all of the tools to thrive in the modern era.

Despite possessing the profile of a successful NBA wing, there are questions surrounding how realistic it is to believe that he can realize his potential. There is, however, a precedent for players with Dotson’s size, build, and skill set to experience success in the Association.

The question is: Which players should Damyean Dotson be studying ahead of his rookie season with the New York Knicks?
