The New York Knicks are reportedly intrigued by the possibility of signing free agent point guard Trey Burke. What would the pros and cons of that signing be?

The New York Knicks have filled the void at point guard with incoming rookie Frank Ntilikina. With Ntilikina being labeled as a project player, however, the Knicks have thus turned to free agency in an attempt to find an ideal complement.

Although New York signed veteran point guard Ramon Sessions in late July, it appears as though the search for a complement isn’t yet over.

New York has filled its 15 main roster spots, but it still has one two-way contract remaining. The possibility also exists that the front office is willing to part ways with one of the 15 main roster signings in order to clear space for a player who’s believed to be a better fit.

Regardless of what the intention may be, Ian Begley of ESPN New York reports that some in the front office are open to the possibility of signing free agent point guard Trey Burke.

Burke has experienced a tumultuous NBA career, but his name value and youth continue to intrigue front offices.

Burke is coming off of a disastrous season with the Washington Wizards. That’s a major reason why he’s a free agent in September, but it’s not necessarily a sign that he’s devoid of value to a team in the Knicks’ position.

The question is: What would the pros and cons be if the New York Knicks were to sign free agent point guard Trey Burke?
