There’s a realistic possibility that Miami Hurricanes shooting guard Bruce Brown will be a lottery pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He’s an explosive athlete with a well-rounded offensive game and the potential to become a lockdown defender.

Lonnie Walker may be garnering more early hype, but Brown is an NBA-caliber athlete with the tools to play both guard positions.

Standing at 6’5″ with a chiseled 200-pound frame and the explosiveness to blow by defenders and finish above the rim, Brown is physically imposing. He’s already shown signs of putting those tools to use on defense, where he’s evolving into quite the playmaker.

The next step will be developing the consistency and focus to be able to lock players down, but there’s reason to believe that goal will come to fruition.

Offensively, Brown is an excellent straight-line finisher and a capable three-point shooter who can balance his scoring efforts. He’s also an above-average passer who sees the floor well and has shown the ability to run the pick and roll.

Brown is a shooting guard, but the New York Knicks could benefit from complementing Frank Ntilikina with a 2 who can help facilitate the offense.
