Pro: Facilitating Touch

Talent hasn’t been the issue for the New York Knicks over the course of the past two seasons. There have been isolation scorers, quality 3-point shooters, and superb offensive rebounders—the ideal combination for at least above-average execution.

The hurdle for the Knicks has been the absence of a player who can consistently create offense for their teammates—a hurdle that could be overcome with Jarrett Jack.

Jack boasts career averages of 4.5 assists per game and 5.7 assists per 36 minutes. Since 2009-10, those numbers have risen to 6.2 assists per 36 minutes, which is a fair indication of what he can provide as a distributor.

Those may not be Rajon Rondo or Chris Paul level numbers, but they’re strong enough statistics to display his proficiency as a passer.

Jack is a skilled pick and roll playmaker who can help set up the likes of Willy Hernangomez, Joakim Noah, and Kyle O’Quinn. He’s also excelled at setting up shooters along the wings, which would make life easier for Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee, and Kristaps Porzingis.

The question is: Will Jack be able to create offense with a decline in his quickness and a knee injury that could stagger his minutes?

The New York Knicks need a veteran point guard to complement Frank Ntilikina. If Ramon Sessions isn’t the answer, then Jarrett Jack may be.
