Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets have a star-caliber point guard in Kemba Walker and a lottery pick at shooting guard in Malik Monk. That could push Nicolas Batum over to the 3, which beckons the question: What will come of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist?

The New York Knicks need a young wing defender to round out the current core, and the Hornets need a legitimate scorer to make their postseason dream a reality.

If it were to trade for Anthony, Charlotte would become a favorite to reach the postseason. The starting lineup could feature Walker and Monk in the backcourt, Batum and Anthony at the forward spots, and Dwight Howard at center.

The Hornets would also retain a somewhat respectable measure of depth with the likes of Frank Kaminsky, Jeremy Lamb, Lance Thomas, and Cody Zeller.

New York would have an outstanding defensive prospect in Kidd-Gilchrist, which should be a top priority. It would also have an athletic and positionally versatile forward in Marvin Williams, who could fill the Markieff Morris role for head coach Jeff Hornacek.

Carmelo Anthony could be a free agent in 2018, and helping the well-rounded Hornets make the playoffs would boost his market value exponentially.
