Carmelo Anthony has asked the New York Knicks for a trade to the Houston Rockets, but what other options should ‘Melo consider?

The New York Knicks have a limited number of options on the Carmelo Anthony trade front. Anthony reportedly has his heart set on being traded to the Houston Rockets, with the Portland Trail Blazers only recently piquing his interest.

The question is: If the Knicks could choose any trade partner they wanted, what exactly would an ideal and realistic trade package look like?

Let’s pretend for a moment that Anthony doesn’t have a no-trade clause. The Knicks could pick and choose from the best possible trade offers, and decide on their own terms whether or not to move Anthony.

In that scenario, the list would expand beyond the Rockets, and thus provide New York with an opportunity to build in a more constructive manner.

The harsh reality here is that the Knicks don’t have many options in August of 2017. Most teams have filled out their respective rosters with free agent signings who won’t be eligible to be traded until December or January. Anthony, of course, wants to be traded now.

The question is: What are some of the alternative options that Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks should consider looking into?
