DeMarcus Cousins wants the New Orleans Pelicans to trade for Carmelo Anthony, but can general manager Dell Demps offer enough to make that happen?

The New York Knicks have begun to realize just how respected Carmelo Anthony is around the NBA. Whether fans support or oppose his career progression, Anthony has earned his place as a future Hall of Fame inductee.

That much was further established when New Orleans Pelicans big man DeMarcus Cousins publicly pleaded with his organization to trade for Anthony.

According to Marc Berman of The New York Post, the Pelicans have interest in trading for Anthony.

"According to an NBA source, New Orleans also would have interest in getting Anthony for its roster."

Cousins himself confirmed as much on Twitter:

Cousins and Anthony share a close bond that was fortified during the 2016 Summer Olympics. The two grew close in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Cousins is now intrigued by the possibility of Anthony joining him in New Orleans.

It’s certainly an intriguing possibility, as the Pelicans could move forward with a starting lineup of Anthony, Cousins, Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday, and Rajon Rondo.

The question of the hour, however, is whether or not the Pelicans have the necessary assets to trade for Anthony. New York has made it clear that it wants to send the 10-time All-Star elsewhere, but it won’t accept just anything.

In order to determine if the New York Knicks and New Orleans Pelicans could actually pull this off, it’s only fair to attempt to design a trade.
